The app

Sopycat runs on your computer. Your recordings, manuals, PDFs and settings are ordinary files in a folder you choose. We have no copy of them and no way to see them.

The app connects to the internet on its own for one thing: checking whether a new version exists. You can turn that off in Settings. Other connections happen only when you choose them:

• Online writing. With a Sopycat account, the pictures of the steps being described, and the details needed to describe them, are sent to our server, passed to our AI provider and not kept. With your own AI key they go to that provider under their terms. Your manuals are never sent.
• Crash reports. Only if you turn them on: the version, the Windows version, the error and the end of the log. Never a document.
• Downloads you start. The Office pack, the voice transcription model and the on-device writing helper are downloaded from their publishers.

When licensing is in place, entering a key will contact our server once to confirm it and occasionally to refresh it. That check sends the key and an identifier for the computer, nothing about your documents.

This website

This site uses no analytics, no cookies and no trackers, and serves its own fonts. [If you add analytics later, name the service here.] Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs (address, page, time) for [N] days.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email address and a receipt; we never see your card number. Your email is used to send your key and receipts, and for nothing else.
